suggestion that the DIY forum be a protected forum, for members only. there is a direct link between the links posted there and the state of the industry. the guests might as well sign up and become members to help A4F. what do you think?

Can you elaborate? Do guests use our DIY to find "bad" links so therefore they should at least be members to gain access? Or do guests use otherwise fine links but for bad purposes? (and the implication is that if they are legit enough to sustain an account they should therefore be legit enough to participate in the DIY site)?

whenever i drop by the DIY forum, there are 3-5 guests, sometimes 10 or more guests viewing the topic i am reading. i am lucky to find another member logged in there with me. it could be great for A4F if these guests became registered members and became more active on A4F. not worried about bad links, there are complaint sites all over the internet and we do discuss which ones to stay away from. wozniack's blog in particular has really good info on those links.

i do agree with that implication in your second point, emoney. members can be more likely to participate and follow the rules with DIY sites, and posts/questions can be moderated and bad behavior / forbidden talk can be curbed at least on the forum. the problem with all the guests is, they drop by to find the links but they don't participate at A4F. the more a DIY site is used the harder it becomes to complete. there is a direct connection between the two. we work hard to find links and share info with each other and then we do not get to do the site because it expired or it became too hard. and who knows if they are scamming the sites. we want to share these links with each other and also keep the industry healthy for longer. we can give them traffic without destroying the industry. and we promote good behavior such as choosing offers of interest and not being a DIY whore, etc. it is just an idea really but one that i think has benefits. thanks for reading

Sounds good to me. 1271994012-useremo.gif Hopefully this will cut down on how quickly DYI sites disappear or changed once a member here has posted it.
